do a backside shifty

A backside shifty is a wakeboarding style trick where the rider twists the board and lower body backside while keeping the upper body facing mostly forward. The board moves sideways behind the rider without doing a full spin, creating a clean and stylish look in the air.

To do it from a kicker, approach with a relaxed edge and steady speed. Pop straight up off the kicker and stay tall through the takeoff. Once in the air, rotate your hips and legs backside while keeping your shoulders more square to the boat. Push the board slightly behind you into the shifty position, hold it briefly for style, then untwist your lower body to bring the board back underneath you before landing. Absorb the landing with bent knees and ride away centered over the board.
