Power Slides

do a power slide

Source: Julia Rick · channel

A power slide is an aggressive sideways slide where you spray water by carving hard and releasing the edge. It's a side slide with style and power, and the spray is half the fun. Approach with speed, rotate the board 90 degrees, and press hard into the water to create a wall of spray.

The move depends on commitment. Riders who slow down halfway catch the edge and eat it. Pick a line, commit, and ride it out.

Key tips

  • Build up speed before initiating the slide
  • Commit to the rotation. Half-hearted attempts catch the edge
  • Press hard through your heels or toes depending on the slide direction
  • Use power slides to set up power slide 180s later
  • Do it on a straight with the line tight. Slack makes the slide wobbly
