    fundamentals safety

This article walks you through getting dressed and packing your essentials so you're comfortable and safe on the mountain. It's all about setting yourself up for a great day of skiing.

    Layering up

Start with ski socks and thermal base layers on cold days. Add ski pants, a thermal top, an extra mid-layer, and your ski jacket. A neck gaiter makes a big difference in chilly weather. Adjust your layers based on the temperature and how warm you usually get.

Pull your ski socks all the way up. Make sure your thermal bottoms stay above the top of the boot liner. Any creases inside the boot will cause discomfort.

    What to pack

Always carry essentials in your pockets.

    • Sunscreen
    • A snack bar
    • Tissues
    • Hand warmers
    • Your phone
    • Your lift pass (it often has the safety crew's number on it)
