Your riding position is neutral, directly under the cable. Hips facing the same way as your toes, chest pointing at the carrier, weight even across both feet. Knees and ankles flexed forward over your toes, upper body upright.
The classic first-time mistake is sitting on the back leg. Your bum sticks out over your heels, your weight goes to the back foot, and the board gets hard to control. You do want to stay fairly low on your first few rides, but low means bent knees, not a dropped hip. Push your hips up so they sit right over your feet, and squeeze your chest up and open toward the carrier.
