A nollie start is the next step after jump starts - instead of dropping off the dock normally, you pop off the nose of the board. It's flashy and builds nose-press control.
The trick is about separating your pop from your balance point. On a regular ollie you load the tail and pop off your back foot. On a nollie you load the nose and pop off the front foot. Most riders feel like they're going to slam face-first the first few attempts, so do it over deep water and commit to the motion.

Key tips
- Shift your weight to the front foot as you drop from the dock
- Load the nose, then pop off the front foot - don't try to use the tail
- Keep the handle low and centered. High handles on a nollie-style pop feel really sketchy
- Commit to the motion over deep water - half-attempts are what cause the face-plants
- Practice in both regular and switch stances
