Method Grab

The Method is one of the most stylish grabs in wakeboarding. Reach down with your front hand and grab the heel edge in front of your front binding. At the same time, push the board out away from your body. A properly tweaked Method looks incredible.

Best learned on heelside straight airs off the L-kicker where you have enough airtime to extend. You need the hangtime, because the Method is a shape, not just a touch. The grab has to happen, the board has to extend, and you have to pull it back in before the landing. Rushing any of those three steps is what makes a Method look like a scratch instead of a grab.

Key tips

  • Reach across your body with your front hand to the heel edge
  • Push the board out and away to tweak the grab
  • This grab works best on heelside approaches
  • Keep your back straight. The style comes from the board push, not from hunching
  • Kick the front foot up to get the board horizontal behind you
  • Start by just touching the edge. The extension comes once the touch is reliable
