land a heelside frontside 540 off the kicker

The heelside frontside 540 is the natural next step once your frontside 360 is on lockdown. It's the same trick from the start, just with one more 180.

In the air, rip both hands over to your rear hip — harder than you would on a 360. Reach around your back and pass the handle as usual, but here's the difference: instead of stopping like on the 360, keep pulling the handle all the way back over to your rear hip so your original hand can grab back on as soon as possible. That second pass is what carries you through the final 180.

On the last 180, spot your landing and get your chest over your toes. Bend your knees on touchdown and edge away from the cable so you don't slip back onto your butt — the most common way to lose this one.

Key tips

  • Have your kicker 360 and kicker FS180 on lockdown first — big 180s with heavy toeside landings
  • Same medium edge as your FS3, just slightly harder for extra height
  • Rip the handle to your rear hip harder than on a 360, and keep it close to your lower back
  • After the handle pass, keep pulling — don't stop like on the 360. Get the original hand back on fast
  • Think 540 out of the gate. Never "360, then check, then add 180"
  • Spot the landing, chest over your toes, knees bent, edge away from the cable
