Rewind Toeside BS180

Skill: do a rewind toeside BS180

Prerequisites: Kicker BS180 (S-Kicker)

A rewind is a trick where you spin one way, let the rope go tight, and use that tension to snap abackside 180 in the opposite direction before landing.

Before trying it you should have a solid toeside backside 180 off the kicker.

How to do it

The whole trick comes down to rope tension. Approach with a medium edge - a gentle edge feels nice but won't give you enough tension to actually rewind you. Flatten off about ten to fifteen feet before the kicker and go perfectly straight at it. Use that flat approach to pull yourself forward and get the handle into your other hand as early as possible - often you'll have it by the time you're three quarters of the way up the kicker.

Off the lip, unwind into your normal toeside backside 180, but push it all the way to 270, or just past your usual back one, so the rope comes tight again. Once it does, pause there in the air as long as you can and spot your landing below you. At the last second, just like a normal backside 180, rip the handle to your lower back, spot the landing behind you, bend your knees on impact, and ride away.
