    Caveman

    What this trick is

Caveman is a way to get onto your board by jumping as you throw it down under your feet.

It can be progressed into a sylish trick when riding by popping the board into your hands first.

    Before you try it

Be comfortable standing on the board and doing hippie jumps.

    How to do it

    1. Whilst standing stationary, hold the board by the tip of the tail with your leading hand (left if regular) with your thumb on the grip tape and the grip facing you.
    2. Swing the board forwards and allow it to naturally swing back towards you.
    3. As it swings back, jump up and aim for your front foot to make contact with the front bolts to level out the board in the air.
    4. Land with both feet on the board!

    Common mistakes

    • Forcing the board down rather than following the natural swing
    • Landing primo. Try to keep the board flat with your hand as it swings back.
    • Landing your back foot on the ground. Repeat the motions and build up confidence to commit both feet onto the board!

    Further progress

Try different ways of holding the board (indie/melon grabs), flipping the board with your hand or rotating your body 180/360 degrees before landing!
