    What this trick is

A 5050 grind is sliding on a ledge or rail with the wheels either side of the coping, rail or edge you are grinding. This tutorial focuses on the ledge variation.

    Before you try it

Be good at ollies, curb stalls and balancing on your board.

    How to do it

    1. Approach the ledge at a slight angle.
    2. Pop an ollie, aiming to get up above the ledge.
    3. Open your shoulders to become parallel with the ledge and aim to land down on the ledge from above with the heelside wheels slightly overhanging.
    4. Hold your balance as you slide
    5. Turn your leading shoudler behind you to turn out of the grind and land.

    Common mistakes

    • Not landing fully on the ledge, the board falls off and into your shins: Aim to land deeper into the ledge so that the back wheels lock into the edge of the ledge.
    • Sticking/stopping on the ledge when you land. Check the grinding surface for defects and wax as required. Increase speed.
