Ollie to Manual on a pad

    ManVsBoard

    Skill:
ollie onto a curb height platform and ride accross with the front wheels in the air!
    Switch:
    Can be ridden switch
    Prerequisites:
    Manual, Ollie

    What this trick is

This trick starts with an ollie, and lands and rides out in a manual position (on the back wheels with front wheels raised). It is a super stylish trick and often used to link tricks together, or to travel accross a raised platform/pad in style!

    How to do it

    1. Foot Placement - Similar to an ollie, but with your front foot slightly more towards the nose to help with control and balance.
    2. Weight - Keep your weight over your back truck, using the back wheels as your pivot point.
    3. Pop your ollie focusing more on gaining height from popping your tail rather than levelling out the nose.
    4. When landing on the platform, keep your front foot elevated as you hold your head and centre of gravity over the back truck.
    5. Balance and make controlled adjustments as you ride out your manual, aiming to hold it to the end of the platform.
    6. As you reach the end of the platform, step the front wheels down so that they hit the ground at the same time as the back wheels, not before!

    Helpful Hint

Try to get comortable doing ollie to manual on flat, then add a thin piece of ply, aiming to ollie on and manual the length of it. Eventually start trying curb height obstacles! This is all about practicing the balance of holding the manual!

    Common mistakes

    • Leaning too far either way - keep your weight centred over the back truck
    • Trying before you are ready. Try on flat first until you have the motion of ollie into th balanced position.

How to know you've got it

Can ollie into manual for around 3 seconds accross a curb height platform.
