    Half cab

    Source: AM Skateboards

    Skill:
rotate the board and my body 180 degrees in the air whilst riding fakie
    Switch:
    Can be ridden switch
    Prerequisites:
    Ollie Fakie ollie

    What this trick is

Half cab is a fakie ollie with a 180 degree turn (backside). It's arguably the easist 180 trick to learn, as your weight is over the pivot point as you ollie.

    Before you try it

Get comfortable doing fakie ollies, backside kickturns and reverts.

    How to do it

    1. Foot Position - Your usual ollie position with your back foot on the centre of the tail and front foot just behind front bolts.
    2. Whilst rolling fakie, bend your knees and turn your head to face the direction of travel. Open up your shoulders ready to turn
    3. Pop your ollie whilst slightly swinging your arms backside to initiate the turn.
    4. Bring your knees up to allow the board to come up into the air as you complete the rotation.
    5. Land both feet on the board and roll away!

    Common mistakes

    • Upper body facing too far backwards before the ollie. This makes it difficult to pop! Try to turn only your head at first and open your soulders just a little.
    • Swinging arms too much - The turn of the head and then shoulders in the air should be enough to do the majority of the work. A slight swing of the arms helps it complete the turn.

How to know you've got it

Consistently completing a full 180 turn at shin height and having enough confidence to start trying the trick on banks, hips and curbs!
