What this trick is
Riding fakie is the name given to riding backwards on your skateboard!
Before you try it
Be comfortable pushing and riding forwards on your skateboard at a moderate speed. Have a preferred stance already (regular/goofy)
How to do it
- In your usual riding position, ride forwards up a flat bank or quarter pipe (start small and mellow at first)
- As you begin to roll backwards, keep your feet where they are on the board and turn your head not your shoulders to face the new direction of travel.
- Ride it out!

Common mistakes
-
Leaning too far forwards when on the ramp - results in shooting the board bheind you
-
Applying pressure or weight too far back - results in the nose lifting and throwing you off
How to know you've got it
Easily move from regular to fakie on mini ramps, cruise and turn fakie to set up for a trick and can revert out, back to regular forwards riding.
