    Source: Skate Tutors

Hippie jump is a simple beginner manouvre where both feet leave the board and then land back on it.

    Before you try it

Try it stationary. Also try jumping from the ground onto the board to get use to landing on it.

    How to do it

    1. Place front foot over front bolts, back foot over back bolts. This stops the board kicking up when you jump.
    2. Jump up off the board from the balls of your feet.
    3. Land back on the board aiming for both feet on the bolts.

    4. Roll away clean.

    ##Progression

As you get more confident, try rolling faster and jumping higher. Tuck your knees up towards your chest.

Master timing and confidence by hippie jumping over obstacles. Start small at first, but it must be high enough for the board to easily roll under!

    Common mistakes

    • Having back foot on tail. This couses board to kick up when you jump.
    • Fear and commitment - just practice, start small and roll slow at first!
    • Jumping forwards can cause the board to shoot back, stay over the board and jump up!

How to know you've got it

Confidently hippie jumping over rails with the board rolling underneath!
