Boxes are flat, wide obstacles you ride across. A 50-50 means riding straight across the box with the board parallel to the feature — this is the most fundamental box trick. Approach straight with enough speed to clear the full box, ride up the ramp, and keep your base flat on the surface. The box is slippery — let the board glide.
Keep your base flat on the box — edging will catch and throw you
Weight centered, knees slightly bent
Keep your eyes on the end of the box, not your feet
Arms relaxed, handle at hip level
Ride all the way off the end before edging again
If you find yourself sliding off the box early to the inside, build a little momentum away from the cable just before getting on. Once you’re on, the cable will start pulling you back toward center.
