Butter Pretzel
- Skill:
- do a butter pretzel
- Prerequisites:
- Flat Ground 180, Nose Press
The butter pretzel is a nose press with a twist: pop off your tail, land 90 degrees on your nose, then spin 270 the other way out. It gets "twisted" like the name says - you press one way and rotate out the opposite way. Learn it on flat snow, then take it to a box.
Before you try it
Be solid on nose presses and flat ground 180s first.
How to do it
Standing still, pop off your tail and land 90 on your nose. Let the nose load up with tension against the snow and use that as leverage to push off and spin the 270 in the opposite direction. Keep your weight on your uphill edge the whole way so you don't catch and go over the front or back. The first 90 comes from your hips. The 270 out comes from your shoulders.
Once it's clean on snow, ride it off a beginner box: land your front foot on the nose as you come off the end and push out the pretzel.
