Toeside Transfer
Skill: do a toeside transfer
A toeside transfer is a heelside transfer on the other edge - pop off the transfer box on your toe edge, clear the gap and land on the parallel rail in a front lip instead of a boardslide.
Learn it after the heelside version. Gap the whole box toeside to the water a few times first and check that your board is clearing the rail every single time - if it isn't, don't aim at it yet. Then come in with a medium toeside edge angled towards the rail, hips rotated to the cable and handle low at your front hip, and take off about a foot clear of it. Once you're above the rail, bring the nose over, land flat based with bent knees, look at the end of the rail and slide it out.
Key tips
- Do the heelside transfer first. Back board is the safest landing position, front lip comes after
- Clear the entire box to the water before you try to land on anything
- Gap width and any height difference between the two features change the difficulty a lot. Scope the setup before you commit
