Now take your [straight airs](/wakeboarding/straight-airs-s-kicker) and learn them from every approach: heelside regular, toeside regular, heelside [switch](/wakeboarding/switch-riding), and toeside switch. Each feels different because your body position and edge angle change. Getting all four stances dialed is the real prep work for rotations. A 180 off a toeside switch approach is just a toeside switch straight air with a twist, so the air has to be solid first.

## Key tips

- Toeside approaches feel less natural. Practice the edge first without the kicker
- Switch approaches are the same technique, just mirrored
- Keep the handle close to the hip of your leading hand in each stance
- Land each variation cleanly before moving to the next
- Pick one variation per session rather than trying all four. You'll progress faster
- Switch toeside is the hardest of the four for most riders. Save it for last
