50-50 FS180 Out (Box)

50-50 FS180 Out (Box)

Ride onto the box in a regular 50-50, then spin frontside 180 as you come off the end. You land riding switch. This is the most natural first combo trick on a box because the 50-50 gives you time to set up the spin.

The whole trick comes down to where you start the rotation. If you wind up too early, the board pivots on the box and you wash off the side. If you wait until you're fully off, there's no airtime to complete the spin and you land half-rotated. The sweet spot is the last third of the box: feel the tail approaching the end, load a small pop, and let the wind-up you already have in your shoulders unwind as you leave.

Once this one feels natural, the same setup gives you 50-50 to BS180 off (tougher, blind landing), 50-50 to 270 out onto a second feature, and eventually switch 50-50 to FS180 out (which lands you back in regular).

Key tips

  • Ride the full length of the box in a clean 50-50 first
  • Wind up your upper body slightly before reaching the end
  • Initiate the spin as you leave the box, not while still on it
  • Keep the handle close through the rotation
  • Land switch with knees bent
  • If you're consistently landing half-rotated, pop a bit harder off the end to buy yourself airtime
